Zoom Gatherings

Discussions on the Common Good and Social Justice

On January 23rd, 2021, the Triglav Circle gathered via zoom to discuss “The Common Good and Social Justice”. The Circle met in a morning session and an evening session to permit participants from Asia, Europe, and the United States to take part.

The discussion on the common good covered some of the following questions: How can the components of the common good – notably peace, social justice , respect for human rights and harmony with nature – be integrated into holistic policies at the national, regional and international levels?  Can efforts to achieve the common good rally support for policies aimed to preserve a robust future for the planet and the human civilization? There are some countries managing to remain socially cohesive, economically prosperous and ecologically responsible, and this in sober political language, with determined efficiency and humility, an “interiorized” practice of the common good; what lessons should be drawn from such examples?

An introductory note with a list of such questions was shared with participants from Japan, India, Germany, France, Denmark, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.  This note, a summary of the discussions, and videos of this session as well as the October gathering of the Circle will be put on the website this spring.
