Special Events

From 1996 to 2010, the Triglav Circle benefited from the hospitality of the Harvard Yenching Institute, Cambridge, Mass, for most of its meetings convened in the United States.  In 2005, the Harvard-Yenching Institute, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and the Circle co-organized a seminar on social justice in Cambridge. The year after, the Circle working with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, organized an International Symposium on Seeking Harmonious Societies and Multiple Modernities.  It was held in Beijing in 2006. Also in 2006, and in 2008, the Circle collaborated with the Orfalea Center for Global and International Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara in organizing two meetings respectively, the first devoted to the global civil society and the second to the cosmopolitan ideal.

Individual Representations

Barbara and Jacques Baudot were invited to Bamako Mali by a member of the Circle in the Government of Mali.  They represented the Circle at a meeting of West African Ministers of Social Development held in Mali in 2009. They gave lectures at the Forum and Salon de Development …Barbara Baudot was invited as a representative of Circle In the first symposium on western philosophy at the University of Hanoi in 2006.  She presented a paper on Kant’s Perpetual Peace.  Japanese members of the Circle Tomonobu Imamichi and Noriko Hashimoto and also Organizers of ECOETHICA an NGO in Tokyo invited Barbara Baudot to present a paper on Nature’s Universe read more on spirituality page  and to present the book Candles in the Dark to a meeting of western and eastern philosophers held in Kyoto in 2006.

Gatherings

Since its creation in 1996, the Triglav Circle has met regularly in the United States and in Europe. Attended by members and friends of the Circle, usually attended by fifteen to twenty persons, these two-days gatherings are devoted to the discussion of a variety of subjects of global concern ranging from social justice to the governance of a world community. Participants are from different regions of the world and have varied educational and professional backgrounds. They share intellectual interests and experience in international affairs. The approach to each meeting approach is interdisciplinary.  Consistent with the mission of the Circle each specific topic is addressed from ethical, philosophical and spiritual dimensions. The objective is to contribute to enriching national and international debates on policies. Reports on these meetings are made public.
